Chapter one
Form. Begin with a bay.
Every Tessel piece is built from the same eighty-centimetre bay. Line up one to four of them, then choose a height — sideboard, console or full shelving. Uprights are shared, so each new bay adds only what it needs.
Chapter two
Function. Decide what each compartment does.
Leave a compartment open, or close it with a door, a pair of drawers or a drop-front flap. The system knows its own rules: drawers sit low, at a comfortable reach; flaps open above the plinth, where they make a usable desk.
Chapter three
Finish. Three materials, chosen for the long view.
